about

It was only a matter of time, but Discontinuous Innovation Inc. is cashing in... We're throwing our hats in the ring and entering the reissue market. For too long brands like: Dark Entries, Superior Viaduct, and Light In The Attic have controlled the "gatekeeper-tote bag-Arthur Russell loving-clear glasses frames" demographic that make up 96.23% of our clientele.

Just for you, the consumer, our team of musicologists have searched high and low for the obscurest of the obscure. What they found was a piping hot slice of punk from 1982. The original master tapes, found buried 30 feet under the ground in a bank vault, has gone unheard since it was originally recorded.

The mastermind behind the project Travis Lees, who continued to have a long career into the 2010's, wrote the following on T.L.B.M. & The Joy Toys:

"Shortly lived, the Joy Toys formed one evening in Los Angeles in the summer of 1982. They wrote these songs in a week and hit the studio to record this ep. On the night on their first show, Tony showed up to the gig with one of his world famous pizzas. However, tony put banana peppers on this pizza and that did not go so well with some of the band. Tracy got heated real quick, as he despised banana peppers. Terry did not like banana peppers as well. The three of them began going at it, Terry and Tracy both yelling at Tony, "Why would you put banana peppers on the pizza, we hate banana peppers", to which Tony responded, "Whadya mean ya don like banana peppas, tha fuck iz wrong wit tha two of ya's git outta here". You see, Tony was from a mob in NY. He got into the NY punk scene and came out to LA to start his own pizzeria with Darby Crash before he od'd. Tony took pride in his work and did not like to be disrespected and he especially did not like his world famous pizzas being disrespected. He told Tracy and Terry that if they don't cool off, he'll call up his cousin and the two of thems would be sleepin with the fishes by dawn. Tracy & Terry, both fans of the 1972 Francis Coppola film, "The Godfather", were aware of what the mob was capable of and knew what "sleepin with the fishes" actually meant. They quickly ran out the venue and were not seen for years. Travis fell asleep and never set an alarm clock and missed the gig completely. Tony went on to open 2 pizzerias in LA and 3 more in NY.

Dedicated to Jack. I don't know Jack but many years ago at a show he was drunk and going around saying, "I'm gonna start a band called Jack & the Joy Toys, who's with me?" Sadly, Jack & the Joy Toys never happened."

This unreleased gem has been carefully remastered from the original master tapes and is now available for the first time on 180G Audio Cassette Tape.
